Taiwan Itinerary Day 1 (Nantou Part 2): The Small Swiss Garden and Carton King

After our breathtaking exploration at the Old England Hotel and Cingjing Farm, we headed next to the Small Swiss Garden. This is just a 15 minute car ride from Cingjing Farm. Below are the specific details of the place:

The Small Swiss Garden

The Small Swiss Garden exudes a European atmosphere similar to Switzerland. Colorful flowers that include but are not limited to bald- cypresses, red maples, and lavender grow in the garden. LED lights added a magical feel to it including the colorful fountains that spark a romantic vibe at night.

It was past 4:00 PM when we arrived in the garden. In Taiwan, it is already very dark as early as 5:00 PM. Hence, we got the perfect timing in visiting the Small Swiss Garden: we can both see the flowers in day light and the LED lights and fountain show at night.

Paper lanterns were hung everywhere

If the garden is already beautiful in day time, wait until you see its beauty at night!

Oh how I loved these lanterns being lit up like these!

I was trying my best not to shiver in the cold while this photo was taken. All for the “Cinderella” feel!

And when everything was magical, I could not help but be enticed by the beauty of my surrounding

We found refuge in this place amidst the very cold weather outside as we waited for all the lights to be lit up

And of course, the best part of our experience here was the light and sound fountain show!

The fountains were dancing to the beat of the music. The entire garden was vibrant in color. A truly magical experience!

Even the entrance was full of life because of the colorful lights

Carton King

In the same area, just across the Small Swiss Garden is a shop called “Carton King”. They sell different crafts made of carton that are way too creative. Everyone can grab a design of their choice for souvenir or as a giveaway. Here are some of their crafts: very nice!

It was already past 06:00 PM when we decided to have our dinner at the 7/11 beside Carton King. In all fairness to the 7/11 food in Taiwan, they taste great!

We had to use the phone at the Small Swiss Garden booth to call our contact at the hostel since we could no longer bare the cold.

It took us a 10 minute drive going back to Spring Ground B&B from The Small Swiss Garden. At 07:30 PM, we were already settled in our room.

Overall, our first day trip in Taiwan, specifically in Nantou had been amazing!

Coming up will be our detailed itinerary and the expense breakdown for day 1.
