There is always that invigorating feeling whenever I smell coffee and it has never wavered since I started. It has always been part of my life’s journey to stumble upon the best coffee, if not, the pleasurable ones in the world! Armed with this purpose, Mr. Yellow, my bestfriend, and I explored the stretch of Maginhawa Street in Quezon City to visit this “The Sweet Spot Cafe”.
The cafe has a modern and charming ambiance that is most suitable for yuppies and students.
They have a wide and varied selection of food, and most importantly, they have unique coffee mixes that are intriguing. The place is surprisingly spacious and it has a mezzanine on the second floor.
This is the artsy side of the cafe: it’s like a story board telling everyone that having coffee is equivalent to having a “best day ever”!
The other side has a more conventional set-up and the monochromatic colors give a harmonious vibe to the area.
They also have a corner with this shelf full of books! It has a long table in front that is most ideal for meetings and for big groups.
There are also interesting frames hanging on the wall that are worth reading. Visual guide to coffee beverages is specifically helpful to those who want to know more about coffee while cafe etiquette helps put glamour to your coffee drinking. It is interesting isn’t it?
Displayed on the counter are these quirky coffee bottles that are like a witch potion to me: mesmerizing and charming to the imagination.
Do not worry about your dessert, they have it covered! They have different cake flavors that you can explore, that can also go with your coffee.
Finally, in the middle of our funny conversation our orders were served to us:
Here’s my bestfriend’s Speculoos Mocha at 130 PHP. Submerged at the bottom is the sweet speculoos that you can dig down and mix with the drink. I would recommend this to non-hard core coffee drinkers as this glass is sweet.
Here’s my love’s Butterscotch Latte at 120 PHP. Those who love their coffee sweet would enjoy this drink.
This is my cup of “Minty Mocha” at 130 PHP: very lovely indeed! As I clasped my hands around it and smell its aroma, I knew then that I won’t let it go. True enough, the cool minty and bitter mocha taste of the coffee in my mouth are wonderful.
Most importantly, I could not forget how delicious their Reese‘s Peanut Butter Cake slice tasted with my coffee.
Look at how the reese’s and the cream are layered with the fudge chocolate cake. Believe me when I say “this cake is really for the win”! For only 120 PHP per slice, this cake is a fantastic find! The moist and the fudge are just right, the cake is not very sweet, and most importantly, the reese’s are gratifying!
And of course, I am saving this food for last! I think that I need to find the right words to describe this dish to truly justify how it tasted!
This is a Kalbiccini (260 PHP). It is a fusion of Korea and Italy ‘s braised short ribs on a bed of fetuccini. Would you believe me again if I will tell you that this even tastes better than it looks? Yes that is true: the sauce of this pasta is amazingly good, the beef is wonderfully tendered, and everything that goes with it is divine! This food is a rare find! Never ever leave this place without trying this one!
