We’ve been hearing a lot about this place in Little Tokyo called the Izakaya Kikufuji. Majority, if not all of the people who have tried the place gave us a positive recommendation of its food. So, to experience it first hand, we’ve finally decided to give it a try.
Lo and behold, the place is a food haven! For a start, we got salmon and octopus sashimi. The tender salmon slices were incredibly fresh and the the octopus was amazingly chewy.

We also ordered their famous Spicy Maguro (280 PHP) which has unexpectedly blown our palates away. The crispy breading on the tuna chunks gave off a nice balance to the texture of the fish meat. Also, the mayo did not taste so greasy on this dish.
And as we tried the starters, our cravings only grew stronger. Thus, we ordered their menu on the grill. We got ourselves chicken wings and Enoki Bacon (60 PHP/piece). OH MY G, the savory taste of the bacon paired with the juicy taste of the mushroom were mouth-watering. You could not also ignore the crunch of the chicken wings that is equally toothsome.
Since we were saving the best for last, we made sure to order their bestseller – the wagyu sticks (125 PHP/stick). Never ever leave this place without trying it. The beef was amazingly seasoned to perfection and melts in your mouth like butter.
Finally, we only have great words for their food honestly. However, we would like to manage your expectation that the place is really fully packed most of the time so, do call in advance before you decide to go there. Further, there might be delays in your order so don’t be shy to follow-up.
Do not have some second thoughts and try Izakaya Kikufuji now! It is indeed a place for a not-so-pricey Japanese food yet, of prime quality selections.
